Fringe
In
the seventies, I envied girls who wore
halter
tops and hot pants. Hippy chicks
who
wound their hair into a spiral
of
desire, waiting to unfurl at a touch,
wearing
the space of long-haired guys,
dressed
in tie-dyed t-shirts and Levi jeans.
I
stood wrapped in a leather jacket,
raked
my fingers across the fringe.
