Hollyhocks
I asked
you for lupins
because
of their bushy tails
waving
high there in the meadows
because
they
come
colourfully
burst
into the world
they
host
a
thirst
for
life
a
sensational swirl
some
sail into
their
soft embrace
a
scented dance
sipping
swaying sinking
us
in a
summer trance
Have I
seen black lupins?
here in
Denmark
where
the air is constant
and we
breathe as one
we grow
as one
we mow
the lawn as one
a land
where all are
one
and
dandelions are
forbidden
I asked
you for lupins
because
my neighbours tear mine up
lupins
are not
advisable
I put a
sign next to my lupin
asking
the kindly neighbours to leave it be
give it
some peace and quiet
to grow
young and old
then
die for the year
your
reply
as if
to mock
was a
pitch dark hollyhock
