i found you sleeping in my seat

I found you sleeping in my seat

(for a family of Ukrainian refugees)

The train goes on

as forests change to cities along the way

and there’s a song your son keeps singing

while you sleep           spread across the silver seats

and you dream

and streets meet streets

and your mother        entertains your other son

who interrupts you here and there

for him            a world has just begun

with a kiss on your weary forehead as you hum

and smile
