Ode to Ginsberg: 1926 - 1997

 Ode to Ginsberg: 1926 - 1997

Reading Ginsberg naked in bed (but not like that) with the
grinding & scraping of a tractor somewhere in the distance

The shutter of the sounds bouncing off the tree peeking in and the

maize & sugar beets in the fields across the paved Roman road

The air is still & thick but the sleek sounds slip through it & around it

feeling every breeze, every bull rush as it tries to throw them off

The newly formed frogs in the backyard, finding their feet

around the wash basin doubling as a pathetic pond in the tall grass

A little humming plane overhead on its last wing and prayer

Spits and sputters and wonders if there is safety on land

The old Beat – dead beat – between the covers

Death & Fame

Michael Adubato

Michael Adubato was born and raised in New Jersey but moved across the ocean and settled in Belgium, mainly because the beer and soccer are better.  When he’s not at a stadium watching a game, he’s thinking about where to go for the next game.  He also writes about those games when the poems aren’t flowing.  His greatest achievement was convincing a beautiful Slovakian woman to marry him.  Ariel Chart is his first published literary credit.

  1. About time we had some Ginsberg action....that might have come out wrong. But you know what I mean. Need more Beats in this place.
