A Perfect Day

A Perfect Day

I sit on a bench

Watching the river racing by

The cool breeze propelling the water

At a pace that races over rocks

Planted in the river bed

Creating a swirling and frothing display

Of pseudo-rapids competing with time

The sun piercing the crystal-clear sky

Like a high-intensity light bulb

And yet without glare

As it brilliantly illuminates

The cascading water

Iridescence bouncing in all directions

Like a back-lit canvas

Paper-white clouds held motionless

In the blueness above the water

A dichotomy of river and sky

A perfect day to sit on a bench

And capture the moment in photographs

Like impressionist paintings

Seeking to capture the essence of the day

Trees beginning their transition

From green to multi-colored hues

A coalescence of nature

The cool crisp air refreshing the spirit

As it refreshes the atmosphere

Blending the elements of life

With the earth and the sky
