Night Lights

Night Lights

I love these inky black nights

that make us deny the thought of ever knowing

heavenly blues, or sunshine.

Your full moon touches the sky of my tongue

and I swallow you like the milky way.

If the sun never rises this last meal will sustain me.

But what happens if the moon

is never a fact, but a shifting promise

that tells me when I will see you again.

The troubled stars are my friends

the ones that blink, blink, then are gone.
