Never Been Picked

 

The flower had never

been touched before,

shining sunward.

Gentle fingers

stroked the stem.

Smiling face 

breathed perfume.

 

She yanked hard,

roots and all

for her beloved Mother.

A recent octogenarian, Vern Fein, has published over 300 poems and short prose pieces in over 100 different sites.
