Corona Villanelle

Corona Villanellle

As deadly virus spread across the globe,

We promptly learned to practice social distance

And wash our hands religiously with soap.

While we prepared frenziedly to cope,

The toilet paper vanished from existence

As Covid19 spread across the globe.

With graphs upsurging exponential slope

And not much chance of vaccine or resistance,

We washed our hands religiously with soap.

As virus frustrated scientific probe

And medics worked with desperate insistence,

The Covid19 killed across the globe.

When the disaster reached pandemic scope,

Most stayed at home with fearful persistence

And washed their hands religiously with soap.

In plagues and wars the last to die is hope:

We will resume our usual existence

As deadly virus wanes across the globe.

Just don't forget to wash your hands with soap.

  1. My not cup of tea. Enough with the pandemic poems. They are worse than the virus.

  2. Maybe too many corona poems in the stream of things; yet too many corona deaths of people not coming back to read a good book. Nothing wrong with the poem or the effort. I applaud you.

  3. The criticism is beyond my understanding. I question any writer who declines to document a global crisis. You did us proud.

  4. I dare say this is my favorite corona-inspired poem.
