Waiting

Waiting

I wanted a man to hunger for me.

Instead I got a man who fasts from day till night –

Interest fast declining.

I wanted a man to bleed for me.

Instead I got a man who cuts himself shaving –

Interest bleeding away.

I wanted a man who would wait an eternity for me.

Instead I got a man a dozen minutes late –

Interest ticking away.
