Fish Drum

Fish Drum

The violin

is lifted

to the lip,

kissed.

Bow catches

the light. Cherry,

deep

and passionate,

an extension

of the player's

red hair.

It is Mahler,

the second,

the humidity

below fifty percent

and seventy degrees.
